Seven replica World Cup trophies have been stolen from FIFA’s South Africa headquarters, located close to the venue for the World Cup final. The gold plated cups, worth around £100 each, were taken from a store cupboard at FIFA’s base in Johannesburg.
South Africa’s police commissioner Bheki Cele suspected that the theft of the seven trophies was an inside job. “We are looking into it. The suspects are people who are very familiar with the environment,” said Cele.
